He will be honest on what needs to be fixed and when we are on a budget - he will advise what needs to be fixed first and what can wait. Before taking our first car to a Gary, a dealer had told us we needed a transmission flush. Gary asked if we pulled anything with our car. We said No. Gary pointed out that the Car Manual said - "IF you pull trailers or boats with your car, you will need to do a transmission flush. Otherwise, you don't need to ever do it!"
