When I took delivery of a storage unit I was warned that they had been broke into before and that they had no cameras. He mentioned I should buy a round padlock and not the square ones as they are much more difficult to break.
The guy actually told me that the police wouldn't look at the videos even if they had them, this was a lie.
I was recently broke into, it doesn't look like they stole anything, but did rummage through a lot of boxes. They could have easily taken power tools, lawn and garden equipment, etc but didn't bother.
The unit next to me was also broke into and another one in the next building, and they took a ZTR mower and wheels and tires.
An officer showed up and reports were made, officer said this happens all the time.
So in the end, use a round padlock and Midwest Mini should put up some cameras!
Other than that the units are clean, and access is easy with credentials, which leads me to believe it is a current customer who broke the locks and was able to get a ZTR mower out of the gate.
