Vintage Italian Pizza
3901 Grand Ave
Duluth, MN 55807
On a blustery and snowy Tuesday evening I could see in the distance an illuminated open sign, but couldn’t make out the sign next to it. Was it a pharmacy or a pizzeria? As I got closer and my stomach began to growl, the letters became clearer and I was finally able to see that it was indeed a pizza joint.
VIP has three locations and I was at the Grand Ave. location that is a carry out and delivery spot only. The interior is open, airy and clean and you can see the kitchen staff in action. I ordered my usual sausage and pepperoni and was told it was going to be a twenty minute wait. No problem I expected that and what made it easier was that the woman behind the counter was very friendly and talkative.
Once I got my pizza I scurried through the snow as fast as I could to open my box and take my first look at my pizza. The first thing I noticed is that they don’t skimp on the cheese. Also there were nice big nuggets of sausage and it was cut in squares the way I like it. The crust was just the right thickness and misshaped, not a perfect factory circle. What struck me most about this pizza was the sauce. This place seems to place more effort into making a delicious red tomatoy sauce with a nice finish of oregano.
According To The Big Food Jerk.
One of the better pizzas I have had in a long time. Vintage Italian Pizza has great sauce, fantastic sausage with copious amounts of cheese. Totally recommend this joint! Great Pizza!
